Decorating a Kids Bath
Many parents choose to redecorate one of the bathrooms in their house and use it as a kid's bath. If you are thinking along the same lines, here are a few suggestions that should be followed to make sure that it's a great bathroom and not just an over cluttered mess.
First, you need to decide if you are going to do a full remodel or just redecoration. It is recommended that if you are not going to live in your house for very many years or if you only plan on having one child that it may not be cost efficient to remodel the whole bathroom. However, if you plan on staying in your house for a very long time and having a lot of children you may find it easier to do a complete remodeling. This generally means lowering the countertops and sinks and having more space around the toilet than a standard bathroom would have.
Once you are ready for the redecorating phase there are several things to keep in mind. First off, be sure to stick with the color scheme that you have chosen or the décor theme. Don't mix and match elements. If you are going to have a beach theme then do not start using clowns or sports items just because you like it.
Now that you know that you are going to stick with one central theme then you need to keep in mind not to go overboard. If you have too many busy elements going on it will look to chaotic. It is not wise to have a themed shower curtain, border and wallpaper. Your eyes will not be able to focus on anything. Instead try putting a themed shower curtain with a solid colored wall. You can also go with a more solid shower curtain and decide to pain a large mural on the wall. Children would love to help you be creative with what you can put on the wall.
It is important to always allow the children help you. This is their space that they are going to use a lot so their input and help matters. Get ideas from them as to what they would like and even let them help paint a little or put in the new pieces that you have bought. When you are at the store looking to buy new items be sure to pick up two shower curtains. If you hang the two shower curtains together then you will get the fold that designer curtains have. In addition it will more easily hide all the toys that are in the tub.
Also be sure to pick up a tub mat because this will help children from slipping. When deciding on the decorations that you are going to use, try to pick something that your kids are really into at this moment. In addition be sure to concentrate on elements that can be easily changed such as the paint, towels and curtains. This way if your children are tired of the theme then you can easily change it.
