How to Choose a Bath Towel

Most people want to find a good towel that will dry them easily and be comfortable on the skin. In order to find the right towel for you there are a few things that you can do.

Purpose of the Bath Towel

First, you need to determine what you are using this bath towel for. If you are purchasing the bath towel for a college student then you may want to sacrifice quality for more quantity. We all know how often college students actually do their laundry. However, if you are buying towels for your own personal every day use, as a gift or as guest towels in your home then you will want to have better quality towels.

Choosing the right density Bath Towel

Once you have determined what you are actually going to be doing with the bath towel and you have determined if you are going for quality or quantity then you need to pick out the right towel. It is very important to know the fabrics that you are looking at. You want to choose a fabric that is absorbent and feels nice on the skin. Cotton is the most absorbent fabric and Egyptian cotton and Supima cotton are the softest of the cottons. You can also get high quality towels that have silk weaved in and this will not reduce the absorbency level. Absorbency levels are based on towel density. The more dense the towel the better absorbency it has. Luxury towels usually have 800 grams per meter.

Choosing the right size Bath Towel

After you have the fabric and density picked out the next thing you need to do is select a size. Be sure not to buy a towel that is too small. If you are using these towels as guest towels or giving them as a gift carefully consider who will be using them. Even if a towel is good for you it may not be appropriate for someone much larger. Average size bath towels are generally in the range of 27 x 50 inches to about 30x 56 inches. You can get oversized bath towels that are usually 30 x 56 inches. The largest sizes are generally called bath sheets and are 33 x 66 inches to 40 x 70 inches.

Choosing the right color Bath Towel

Now that you have all the key factors picked out for picking the best towel you need to choose a color. This color should usually match the décor that you have in your bathroom. If they do not have your color available in the size and density of the towel that you wish then it is best to pick a neutral or complimentary color.

Now that you have picked the perfect towel for you be sure to take good care of your towel. Be sure not to use fabric softener when washing your bath towels because the chemicals will make them less absorbent and cause them to wear faster. You can also style them in your bathroom by rolling them and putting them in baskets, or by nicely organizing them on a towel rack.
